| BIOGRAPHY |
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael Caterino was the oldest of three children born to
Albert and Mary Caterino. An exceptional student, Michael graduated from high school at the age of 15.
Upon graduation, he attended Thiel College and served in the United States Air Force. In his role as a
Staff Sergeant with the Special Weapons Division, Michael traveled the globe and was stationed in such
places as Germany and Japan. In 1965, with just six months left of his six-year tour of duty, Michael
was sent to McClellan Air Force Base in North Highlands to spend the duration of his service. Shortly
after his arrival, Michael enrolled at Sacramento State University and took nighttime accounting courses
while simultaneously working as a Disk Jockey at the campus radio station and later at KSFM. Michael
married Kathy in 1966 and the two chose to remain in the Sacramento area. Completing his course work and
earning his C.P.A. degree from Sac State in 1968, Michael immediately went to work for a small accounting
firm. His professionalism and strong work ethic earned him several job promotions. Given his success with
this and other firms, Michael endeavored to start his own business, Michael A. Caterino, C.P.A.
In 1986, the Caterino family moved to Elk Grove. According to Kathy, moving to this area of the county was
Michael's idea. "He liked the small-town atmosphere and friendliness of the people who lived here."
Never one to sit still for long, Michael immediately got involved in several of the area's service organizations.
As an active member of the Elk Grove Historical Society, Elk Grove Rotary Club, Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce,
Knights of Columbus, MENSA, Elk Grove Flying Club and Home Field Advantage, he dedicated countless hours to
serving the needs and interests of his fellow residents.
May of 1994, Michael's service to the Elk Grove community was cut short abruptly by a tragic airplane accident.
Michael is survived by his wife Kathy and his son Michael.
