| BIOGRAPHY |
George W. Morse and his wife, Emma Russell, moved to the Elk Grove area in 1870. His land was located about
six miles from Elk Grove, eighteen miles from Sacramento, and three and a half miles from upper Stockton
road. It was there that the Morse Family dynasty began in Elk Grove. George and Emma Morse had four children
(Egbert, Maud, Archie, and Eva) who later established families of their own. Each generation has been active
in education, farming, the Masonic Lodge, non-profit organizations, community service and the Strauss Festival.
