| BIOGRAPHY |
Mel and Lena Oneto, originally from Stockton, moved to Elk Grove in 1967. Both are members of families long
engaged in agricultural enterprises. The Onetos have farmed close to 2000 acres of hay, alfalfa, cherries,
corn, tomatoes and other row crops for many years. Mel and Lena work as partners with their sons, Ron and Ken.
The Onetos have made invaluable contributions to the agricultural industry locally and abroad. They received
the Agribusiness Persons of the Year from the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce as well as the Elk Grove
Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award.
Mel and Lena are the parents of Ron, Lorene, and Ken. Ron and Lisa Oneto live in Elk Grove, Lorene and Gary
Euerle live in Loomis, and Ken and Florrie Oneto live in Galt. Mel and Lena are also the proud grandparents of
Ryan and Taralyn Oneto, Duane and Scott Euerle, and Erica Oneto.
By trade the Oneto's favorite hobby is farming, but Lena likes to travel, fish and crochet, and Mel likes to
hunt, fish and travel. In their spare time, Mel and Lena have been very involved with the community in which
they live. Mel has been involved with the Elk Grove Lions Club since 1975, served as Regional Chairman and
received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He served as president of the Senior Center of Elk Grove and has served
on the Sacramento County Fair Board. He is past president of the Elk Grove Lions and Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce,
and was named Elk Grove's Citizen of the Year in 1984. Lena is past President of the Elk Grove Republican Women and
was vice president of the Soroptimist International of Rio Cosumnes. Mel and Lena have been extensively involved in
community programs, serving as 4-H leaders, members of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Ag Lunch
committee, Western Festival, Western Growers Association, Elk Grove Grange, Elk Grove Historical Society, and many
other organizations.
